Program Description

The gifted specialist at the elementary level works with the gifted students and their teachers to provide enrichment as needed. In addition to being a resource for classroom activities, the gifted specialist meets weekly with groups of students to extend and enrich grade-level TEKS and strengthen higher-order thinking skills. Elementary G.T Students Attend Mush Husky Assembly-

To enrich their unit on Alaska/Iditarod, students joined the Intermediate student body for a Mush Husky Assembly.  Guest speaker, Doug Ruzicka traveled to Sealy from Anchor Point, Alaska.  Joining him was his 1 year old Alaskan Husky, Doc.  Mr. Ruzicka spoke to the students about the determination, motivation, and strength required to lead a dog sled  team in the Alaskan wilderness.  Students learned about the specific gear used by a dog sled team, as well as how to survive in below zero temperatures.
