Character Counts at Selman Elementary!
. This six weeks students are learning about CARING.
People who are caring…
· are concerned about the well-being of others
· are not mean, selfish, or too busy to help
· have empathy- the ability to share in another person’s feelings
· voluntarily give time or money to help those in need
· are forgiving others
Ideas for Teaching Caring at Home:
· Use words like caring, kind, and considerate in conversations with your child.
· Tell your child you want him/her to be caring. Praise caring behavior and discourage selfish behavior.
· Get involved with helping others. Make it a family event. Record the events and take pictures.
· Always set a good example of caring through your own actions- both large and small. What you do and don’t do sends a message to your child.
